# Exchange currency across chains

Please note our swap widget does not currently support Mantle due to third-party restrictions.

### Exchanging currencies

Collections on Highlight can generally be purchased in ETH, but in some cases different cryptocurrencies are required. Use our swap widget to convert between currencies. You can even convert from one currency on a chain to a different currency on another chain.

### What is WETH?

WETH, or "Wrapped Ether," is a version of ETH that works with ERC-20 tokens. WETH is essential for marketplace functionality, like buying and selling, as many marketplaces require ERC-20 tokens to process trades. 

### Wrapping ETH to WETH

Highlight provides a simple, intuitive way to wrap and unwrap currencies directly within the app. To get started, connect your wallet. Then, select the widget in the top right hand corner.

Here, you can wrap, unwrap, and swap between supported currencies. This initiates a direct transaction straight on the page.

With WETH in your wallet, you’re ready to make offers on Highlight. If you need to convert back, simply select unwrap by converting WETH back into ETH.

Note for Shape: Until October 4th, 2024, the Highlight marketplace was using a [non-canonical version of wETH](https://shapescan.xyz/address/0x48A9B22b80F566E88f0f1DcC90Ea15A8A3bAE8a4?tab=write_contract#2e1a7d4d). If you made an offer on a Shape NFT on Highlight on or before this date and still have some wETH on the old non-canonical contract, you should follow the instructions to withdraw your wETH from this non-canonical contract:

1. Head to the [Shapescan page for wETH](https://shapescan.xyz/address/0x4200000000000000000000000000000000000006?tab=write_contract#2e1a7d4d)
2. Under Contract -> "Write Contract" -> 5. withdraw, you can withdraw your wETH
3. To understand the value to put in the "wad" field, head to [eth-converter](https://eth-converter.com/), and enter the wETH amount you want to withdraw in the "Ether" field
4. Copy the resultant amount in the "Wei" field, and paste into the "wad" field on the Forma explorer
5. Connect your wallet and hit "write" to execute the unwrapping
